How to enjoy the 30A Songwriter Festival...

The 11th annual 30A Songwriters Festival takes place January 17-20, 2020. They announced Brian Wilson, John Prine, Indigo Girls, Tanya Tucker, Don McLean in the first round of the talent line up and that’s very impressive but the names you don’t know may just be the best part.

If you haven’t attended this event in the past and you are thinking about coming, we have some tips. First, buy your tickets and book your home. We have vacancies but they won’t last so call us right away.

Here are a few pointers:

All the listening venues offer food and drink but the main focus is the music and so eating is going to be casual. This is not the time for a long dinner with sparkling conversation. You will be shushed.

The talent is amazing. Who wouldn’t want to sit in a small venue and listen to John Prine sing anything and listen to his stories? It doesn’t get any better than that but don’t try to jump from venue to venue only for the big name act. Stay at a venue for the full line-up. Every songwriter, whether you are familiar with them or not, is probably going to surprise you in a very good way.

Be prepared for lines to get into the venue. Make friends in the line. Don’t save seats once you get in.. And if you don’t get it, don’t be upset. There will be a nearby venue close by that doesn’t have lines that will have a surprise worth hearing. Really.

So:

1. Plan where you want to be and when.

2. Be early and expect a line.

3. Go with the flow wherever it takes you.

4. Be present, be quiet and listen.

5. Be open to something new.

6. If you love the artist, tell them.

And stay with Grayt 30A Vacations!
